My two boys

We had such a fun weekend and I have tons of pictures to post, but here are just a few. I am always so happy when I can get Hunter to sit next to Jack for a picture. We went to the Toledo Zoo and to the lake...lots of fun enjoying this nice weather! Gammy Dori (Nick's mom) stayed over Friday and Saturday night to help me with the kids. Daddy came home super late Saturday night and we're happy to have him home :) More pictures to come!

Hunter looks kind of cheesy, but Jack is so happy!

Jack is happy that he's getting some attention from his older brother...

I can't get over those eyelashes--he's so lucky! He is a chubby looking guy though...I love his rolls, but I'm sure once he starts crawling and walking that baby fat will disappear.

First trip to the lake...

Nick is out of town from Thursday morning until Saturday night (late). As Hunter says it, "Daddy go bye bye on air--pain to ar--zona". We've got some fun things lined up to pass the time while daddy is gone. Thursday late afternoon I took the kids out to the lake since it was such a nice day. Emily, Danny, Hunter, Jack, and I went for a boat ride and grilled out for dinner. Hunter was really good on the boat. I was a little stressed about having to deal with both kids without Nick there, but things went just fine. Tomorrow after work Gammy Dori is coming to stay the night. We are hoping to go out for ice cream tomorrow night and go to the Toledo Zoo on Saturday. I am praying the weather will allow for this!

I was so mad that I didn't have a memory card in my camera, so these were taken from my cell phone. I have a horrible habit of putting the card in my computer and forgetting to take it out. I bought an extra so this wouldn't happen, but obviously, I still have issues with this.

Yes, I am a bad mom for not having my baby in a life jacket. I figure if the boat starts to sink we'll make sure he makes it to shore! More importantly, I was on the lookout for cops since it's a $300 or so ticket. I found that out when I got pulled over when Hunter was this age. Fortunately, he gave me a warning and no ticket. On the weekends he'll have to wear it (when police are out), but it was humid and he was already sticky so having the jacket on would have made him miserable...Once they are mobile, life jackets ALL THE TIME of course!

Hanging out with Aunt Emily (doesn't her dog look evil??)

Danny & Hunter driving the boat

We left as soon as Hunter woke up, so he had a cookie that Emily baked and a whole bowl of watermelon for a snack. Hunter had fun yelling "HI!" to all the boats we passed.

Hope you got to enjoy this nice weather too!

Watermelon for both!

One thing I love about summer is getting to eat watermelon! I usually cut it up into small bites for Hunter, but decided to go out on the deck and let him eat it sliced up and make a mess last night...the juice was running down his face, neck, and arms. He had to go up for a bath afterwards! Baby Jack also got to try some watermelon in this net thing (I can't remember what it's called), but it's a way for babies to eat some foods without the choking hazard.

Hmmm...what is this?

Hunter would eat a whole watermelon if I'd let him! He had 4 big slices before I cut him off :)

Jump City with Monica

Monica took the kids to Jump City last Friday. They have this "pop in" times to go in and jump on all these inflatables. Hunter really likes it (and so does Monica)! It's a great way to burn some energy and with the rotten weather we've had, it's something fun to do for a few hours.

I love this pictures of Hunter and Monica. I don't have hardly any pictures of them together and I need to start taking some so I can show them to him when he's older!

We are so blessed to have found someone who takes such good care of our kids...and has the energy to go do stuff like this with Hunter all the time!

Gotta get rid of that energy...

A friend in my MOPS group was telling me her son has a ton of energy and she recommended this trampoline. We had a gift card to Toys R Us, so we went out to dinner last Friday night and then to pick this out. We put it together on Sunday and Hunter likes it so far. Any way to help him get rid of his energy!

After bath...jumping before bed in his undies!

Jack 6 month update--a week late

Jack turned 6 months on May 9th (Mother's Day), so this post is a week late.
Here are some of the things going on with Baby Jack:
  • He isn't drooling as much, so we don't have to wear bibs as much anymore. He still likes the binkie.
  • He weighs just over 19lbs and is 28 inches long. He is in the 75th percentile for weight and length. His head is in the 50th percentile.
  • He is (and has been for weeks) wearing 9 month clothes.
  • He is great about going to his crib for bedtime and naps! He doesn't cry at all!!! He'll play with his binkie for a few minutes and fall asleep...It is truly amazing. He cried one time for 15 minutes and never again. It could not have gone any better.
  • Jack is sleeping ok. The last week has been good, but we have good and bad weeks. We've been trying to give him more rice cereal (three times per day). I think this helps. He goes to bed at 8pm. He'll wake up around 10:30pm and we go in and put the binkie back in his mouth and he falls back asleep. Then he'll wake up again any time between 11:30pm to 4am wanting a bottle. He'll eat 8oz and fall back asleep. He wakes up any time between 6 am and 7:30am.
  • His naps are not very consistent. It depends on what we are doing with Hunter. He usually gets at least one good nap in his crib per day and otherwise it's in the carseat, bouncy seat, whatever and wherever. I was never this relaxed about Hunter's schedule, but it's just impossible to be on a good routine...in the fall when Hunter starts pre-school and Jack is older, they will both nap (or have quiet time) from 1-3pm.
  • Jack is just the happiest baby. He never cries. People ask us all the time if he cries...at church people will come up to me and say "I haven't heard a peep out of that baby all through mass...does he ever cry?" Nope. He really doesn't. He'll fuss a little if he wants to be held or be fed, but I don't think I've seen tears more than once or twice ever (once I can remember when Hunter hit him in the head with a tractor, so you can't blame him). How have I gotten so lucky? God must know I can't handle much so He's been kind to me.

He's discovered his voice and loves to babble

Such a happy baby!!

Here is Hunter at just over 6 months...there are similarities, but their eyes are different.

Jack has amazingly long eyelashes! He is such a sweet and happy guy--it makes me want to have another :)

Mother's day gifts...

I picked these things out for Mother's Day, but they didn't arrive until just a few days ago. I really like them...it's Jewel Kade and there is a lady in my ABWA group that sells it, so I ordered it from her.
I got these two charms with the kid's names. I haven't quite decided for sure if I'll wear on a bracelet or necklace, but attached to a bracelet for now.

I got this necklace with the charm with my initial on it...I really like the necklace!

How do you like my hair?

Baby Jack has his own little mohawk that is natural...Hunter likes having one too. Last time we went to get his hair cut he told the lady he wanted a mohawk. I also read this other mom's blog and her son has the cutest one (minus the shaved sides), so I thought we'd try it. I first tried with Nick's wax and it didn't stay and was greasy looking. I emailed this other mom and she said she uses hairspray, so ta-da! Hunter loves it and I think it's cute for summer...he won't be sporting this when he stars pre-school in the fall. Maybe a little mess hair, but no mohawk.

Showing off his new hair-do

Enough with the pictures while I'm eating my yogurt!

Wild Child...

Last night Nick had something going on, so I was alone with the kids for a few hours. Hunter was being a "nut boy" as he calls himself. I pulled out the camera b/c he was out of control. It lasted for about an hour and he put on quite a show for Jack and I. I have a video too that I'll have to post later. We have a few other friends with young children...why is mine the only one this wild? People tell me he's "normal"...I'm starting to wonder. This morning when I went into his room he was jumping around in his bed like a complete wild child for ten minutes straight. He was sweating and his heart was racing before he got out of bed! Who has that much energy at 7:30am?!?!?

He looks like such a sweet and innocent little boy...but no, don't let his smile fool you.

"Nut boy" in action

Jack just hung out in his exer-saucer watching the action...

Riding his "nay-nay" as he calls it. He was going crazy on it!

Jack is still having fun watching Hunter...just wait till you see his expressions below.

Jumping, jumping, jumping all around the family room.

Acting silly...

Now Jack is looking at Hunter like, "what is wrong with this kid?!?!"
Taking a quick break to smile for mommy

He was hopping around on his tractor, destroying the nice train track he and Nana had built earlier in the day. Chopper was going completely crazy growling and biting the wheels which made Hunter laugh hysterically.

"Ok, you people are nuts"

Hunter loves to terrorize Chopper. The video I have will be even more evidence of this.

Maybe Jack will be a little more calm, but I highly doubt I would be so fortunate. At least he wears himself out and sleeps like a champ.
