Random funny and not so funny

Happy Friday!!
Hunter really wanted to be a vampire this year. I bought face paint and did a practice run of it. I can and will do better for all the Halloween festivities, but the funny part is I painted his face (and we have black spray paint for his hair) and when he went to look at himself in the mirror it really scared him. You could see him thinking "ok, i think this is me, but I'm a little worried"...it was so cute!
We put the kid in pj's but he always takes them off and when I go to close his door before I go to bed, almost every night, this is how I find him. It makes me laugh every time. I can't wait to show him this when he's older!
Our big first grader has homework now. He has handwriting practice, practical life work, math facts, and lessons from a spelling/writing book. It is a bit of a battle, but we are finding our way. I LOVE that he has to do practical life work (it's a Montessori thing)...so things like chores, baking, organizing his sock drawer, carving a pumpkin and baking the seeds, etc. He is supposed to write it himself...see below.
Pretty good for a barely 6 year old!
Not ready to get out the door for school. He is so happy in the mornings, except when I have to wake him for pre-school :(
Big boo boo! He fell at the park one day and cut his chin...the gums were swollen, a bump on his forehead, but his teeth were still there! He was so cute--he wanted a band-aid, but then said he couldn't talk with it on.

At least school pics were the week prior!!

Fall fun picking pumpkins

We went to Wiards a few weekends ago. However, the kids were cranky from being out the night before. They didn't last long :( Thankfully my awesome friend is a Wiard and had given us free tickets. Then her hubby gave us donuts and cider on the way out which made the kids slightly less crabby for the drive home. I hadn't had the apple fritters before, but they were YUMMY.
Jack and Nick on the hayride at Wiards.
This past weekend we went to Wings Farm. It was a rather unplanned trip, but we wanted to get new pumpkins since our other ones had rotted with the warm weather. I wanted to get a huge pumpkin, but Hunter picked out this one and Nick was much happier about the price, so I kept quiet.
 Cute pic of my boys!
A little too heavy for Jack to pull...
Hunter is a really good worker when given a job to do...

Love this pic...you might see it on a Christmas card.
Silly kids!

Wii fun

We recently brought up the Nintendo Wii from the basement and it's been getting a lot more use. Jack LOVES it...and I guess it's better than watching cartoons...and he's working on his coordination! He loves the step game, boxing, and running.
It's hard to see, but he has tons of scotch tape on his mouth and nose. B/c didn't you know the step game is more fun with your mouth taped shut???

 Working hard and concentrating!
Running races...a whole five minutes of no fighting. Until the end...then it's yelling about someone winning and someone losing, cheating, etc...ahhhhh.

Jack actually ran a 10 minute run three times in one day...his heart was racing and he was sweating, so that's a good thing! He kept saying "am I almost done??" and I'd say, "No, just a few more minutes!"

Indiana Game!

Nick's college roommate, Joe, and his wife Julie, came to visit on Saturday and to go to the Indiana game with us. It was cold and rainy--not a good football game day. We sucked it up and went anyway. At least we won!
Small world...I ran into Suzie who is my neighbor's friend. I had just seen her at a party our mutual friend had the weekend before for the PSU game...and then ran into her randomly at this tailgate...She is the ultimate sports fan and so fun to watch games with. I think she knows her facts better than most men out there. We texted this pic to our mutual friend telling her she missed out!
Julie (left), me, and Jacque. Jacque just had a baby 10 days ago and looks amazing!! She is so lucky to have such family support where she can go do stuff like this with three little boys at home. I'm jealous!
We got seats from Mike and Jacque...they were awesome. 40 yard like about 40 rows up. Too bad it was so cold and we were wet from the rain and left at halftime. Our friends have a barn right next to the stadium that is heated with tv's, so we hung out there for the second half...it was just too cold!

Nana's birthday

For Nana's birthday we went out to Sagano's in Brighton...It was our family, Nana, Grandpa, Emily, Jason, Steve, Kathleen and Gigi. We had a good time and then went back to Gigi's for cake and presents.
Hunter was impressed by the cooking and tricks with the utensils.
Group pic...gotta love Hunter sticking out his tongue. And you can't see Nick behind the chef.
Attempting to catch food being flipped his way.
Nana, Grandpa and Jack.
Happy Birthday Nana!

MIA

As my sister pointed out, I have been really neglecting my blog since I joined FB. I don't want to do that b/c I print the blog every year into a digital book so I can show it to the kids. I set a reminder on my phone to at least post once a week. We'll see how that goes. I put a bunch of posts on now and backdated them to catch up!

Below is Jack doing his new thing--throwing tantrums when he doesn't get his way. I have realized he can be reasoned with so if it doesn't get to this point, it can usually be avoided. Love him no matter what!!

A few funny things...

When I go to close Hunter's bedroom door each night this is usually what I see...BOYS....
We stopped at Grandpa's work on our way to see Gigi last weekend and had a donut...
...and a beer. Jack is well on his way to taking Ken's job (the manager)
We went to Three Cedars Farm...we love that place!
 Hayride...out to pick pumpkins
