Hunter's 6th Birthday!

In lieu of a big party this year, we took Hunter to Cedar Point. He is about 49 inches tall and most rides are 48 inches. There were a handful he can't do, but most he could. Jack stayed home with Gammy Dori all day and we had a great day just spending some needed one-on-one time with our oldest child. We did have grandparents and a few people over on his actual birthday, so we still got to celebrate with family :)

I was equally proud of his bravery and nervous about his fearlessness. He went on the Magnum front car, with hands up. We rode the Millennium--ok that is scary!!! He went on a bunch of other scary rides too...wow.
He drove the antique car and Nick and I sat in the backseat like he was our driver...he took it very seriously...it was so cute!

Ok, this ride is new and pretty scary! I was screaming. Hunter had his hands up! It's like a super-duper pirate ship times ten. We rode it at least three times. Oh, and we got the fast passes--totally worth it!!

Nick and I in the backseat of the antique car
Hunter and I on the ferris wheel. I don't usually ride this and I hated it. I don't like when it keeps stopping and starting and being up so high. I seriously think this is scarier for me than roller coasters!!
We left about 9pm. It was also Halloweekends at CP, so we did some haunted houses. The first one he was super scared and I felt like a bad mom. I basically put my hand over his eyes and walked him through. Then he wanted to do another! I was shocked. I'm surprised he didn't have nightmares.
 Opening birthday gifts :)
The funniest part about the cake situation was that we didn't realize when we started to sing that Jack was sitting over in the sunroom. As soon as Hunter blew them out we heard this heart-wrenching cry. Jack was SO SAD he had missed it. So we had to do round two and let him help Hunter blow them out. Alana and Tyler wanted to help too!

Happy 6th Birthday Hunter!! We love you so much!!

UM vs. ND game

On September 7th, we got a babysitter and went to the UM vs ND game. It was like a mini college reunion. My roommates and several other friends came into town for the game. We had a really fun afternoon and a win made it even better. The best part is we got the tickets for FREE. They were going for $300 per ticket, and we paid that two years ago, but I was very happy and grateful to someone Nick does business with for the free tickets :)
 Go Blue!!

Erica (right) and I met at freshman orientation and became good friends...we lived in the same dorm freshman year and then together for the other three years. Lindsay and I met freshman year too and lived together the other three years...then we had the rotating 4th roommate who never lasted. haha.
Group picture! So much fun!!! We need to do this more than once every two years!!

First day of school and a little random

My boy is a first grader....I can't believe it!! It has been a bit of an adjustment, but I think it's getting better. It's hard to go to a new class and being the youngest :( We are getting into our routines and doing ok! You can see the nervous look on his face...poor guy!

Jack LOVES school and comes home happy every day. He loves his friends, his teachers, etc. He's so sweet!

Since he wasn't cooperating at school for his picture, here is one from later in the day.

Jessica said he is smiling like this all the time at pick-up

Amber and I met up at the Northville Cider Mill a few weeks ago. The kids played for two hours on this wooden train/structure and we got to hang out...Hunter ate approximately 4.5 donuts and Jack ate two. It was "donuts for dinner" night!

My awesome soccer player. So far this is his favorite sport...and you can see by the sweat he works hard!! He's fast and a great defensive player. It helps that he plays at recess every day with older kids and every night he gets a chance.

Muskegon--Part 2

We went to a WW2 museum that had some cool stuff and the submarine you could take a tour through. Then we headed to the beach...lots of fun!
Jack took his put-putting very seriously.

Only picture I could get of the two of them together. Nice cheesy smile Hunter :)

It was the day of the first UM game, so my boys were dressed ready to support their team! They are so handsome :)
 Submarine from the outside
It was so small in there! I could not handle sleeping there....yikes!

They had these tiny rooms that slept SO many people...Ahhhh....that would have been horrible!
The kids felt the need to test out the beds in each room.

I threw this picture in b/c they had all you can eat mac and cheese one night and Jack was in HEAVEN. The child could live on that and tomato soup if I let him.
Ready to go home...a few days with no naps is no good for this one.
