 Crazy face :)
At St. Joseph church in the village. I told the kids I had some wedding pics from this spot and they wanted their pics taken here too!

School pics for this year---re-takes on both turned out much better

Perfect score on spelling test earlier this year.
Chuck E. Cheese with Nanny #1 and Nanny #2....Monica and Julie.
So cute!! Apparently there was lots of bribery to get the boys to cooperate.

Jack's 4th Birthday!

Jack's birthday fell on a Saturday this year with the UM vs. Nebraska game...He had his celebration of life thing at school on Friday...he had a great time with it. Then Saturday we had a birthday party and football party combined. Nothing too big--mostly family and a couple of friends.
Getting ready for the ceremony they do
He got to help pass out the snack we brought in...and passed around some pictures. He was SO adorable.

You carry the earth around the "sun" for each year of life...it's a super cute thing and most Montessori schools do something very similar.
Uncle Mark and Aunt Brandie came into town late the night before his bday b/c they had a wedding to attend. Mark was teaching Jack some yoga poses.
Gammy made Jack a cookie cake and Aunt Rhonda made her famous giant cupcake with candy on it :)

Jack is SO sweet, so cute, and just the most loving child. He tells us he loves us all the times, gives out unsolicited hugs and kisses all the time...and is so sweet. He is a little instigator of trouble with his big brother when he feels like it. Then he usually ends up getting hurt, but he will learn. We love you Jack!!!

Halloween 2013

On Tuesday before Halloween we went to the Barton Hills Spooktacular....we went last year and it was a lot of fun. They have a not-so-scary seating for the younger kids, buffet, etc. We took my parents which was fun :)

 Love this!
 Love this too!

On Halloween it rained the entire day--boo. We went to Joe and Heather's for their annual Halloween Party. The kids went out trick-or-treating...

What I will remember forever is that they collected a ton of candy and the next day they completely forgot about it. Honest to God truth, they never ate any of their candy. The excitement was in collecting it, but they totally forgot and two weeks later still have not remembered that they have it...I think I'll keep it that way. I am SO happy about it, but also think it's so funny that especially Hunter never remembered to ask about it!! I can't wait to tell them this story when they are older!!

Random funny and not so funny

Happy Friday!!
Hunter really wanted to be a vampire this year. I bought face paint and did a practice run of it. I can and will do better for all the Halloween festivities, but the funny part is I painted his face (and we have black spray paint for his hair) and when he went to look at himself in the mirror it really scared him. You could see him thinking "ok, i think this is me, but I'm a little worried"...it was so cute!
We put the kid in pj's but he always takes them off and when I go to close his door before I go to bed, almost every night, this is how I find him. It makes me laugh every time. I can't wait to show him this when he's older!
Our big first grader has homework now. He has handwriting practice, practical life work, math facts, and lessons from a spelling/writing book. It is a bit of a battle, but we are finding our way. I LOVE that he has to do practical life work (it's a Montessori thing)...so things like chores, baking, organizing his sock drawer, carving a pumpkin and baking the seeds, etc. He is supposed to write it himself...see below.
Pretty good for a barely 6 year old!
Not ready to get out the door for school. He is so happy in the mornings, except when I have to wake him for pre-school :(
Big boo boo! He fell at the park one day and cut his chin...the gums were swollen, a bump on his forehead, but his teeth were still there! He was so cute--he wanted a band-aid, but then said he couldn't talk with it on.

At least school pics were the week prior!!

Fall fun picking pumpkins

We went to Wiards a few weekends ago. However, the kids were cranky from being out the night before. They didn't last long :( Thankfully my awesome friend is a Wiard and had given us free tickets. Then her hubby gave us donuts and cider on the way out which made the kids slightly less crabby for the drive home. I hadn't had the apple fritters before, but they were YUMMY.
Jack and Nick on the hayride at Wiards.
This past weekend we went to Wings Farm. It was a rather unplanned trip, but we wanted to get new pumpkins since our other ones had rotted with the warm weather. I wanted to get a huge pumpkin, but Hunter picked out this one and Nick was much happier about the price, so I kept quiet.
 Cute pic of my boys!
A little too heavy for Jack to pull...
Hunter is a really good worker when given a job to do...

Love this pic...you might see it on a Christmas card.
Silly kids!

Wii fun

We recently brought up the Nintendo Wii from the basement and it's been getting a lot more use. Jack LOVES it...and I guess it's better than watching cartoons...and he's working on his coordination! He loves the step game, boxing, and running.
It's hard to see, but he has tons of scotch tape on his mouth and nose. B/c didn't you know the step game is more fun with your mouth taped shut???

 Working hard and concentrating!
Running races...a whole five minutes of no fighting. Until the end...then it's yelling about someone winning and someone losing, cheating, etc...ahhhhh.

Jack actually ran a 10 minute run three times in one day...his heart was racing and he was sweating, so that's a good thing! He kept saying "am I almost done??" and I'd say, "No, just a few more minutes!"
