Lake with Dupreys

Last Sunday we went to the lake with the Duprey Family. Nick and Chris were friends in college and they have a son named Mason who is just a few months older than Hunter. We have a lot of fun taking the kids to the lake and are so fortunate that my parent's have the house out there and a boat for us to take out. Besides, they never go out there, so someone might as well enjoy it! My sister lives there and has friends out a lot, but she works a lot on the weekends and plays softball, so we can be there and not be in her way.

Chris & Mason

It took a little bit for them to warm up to each other, but then they had lots of fun

Mason and his mom (Angela) went tubing. It was Mason's first time tubing and he had a lot of fun. He was so brave!

Daddy & Hunter tubing

I think Mason had the most fun driving the boat. I wish Hunter would sit and drive the boat, but he's too busy! Mason was so cute and took his job as boat driver very seriously.

Jack is 9 months

Jack turned 9 months yesterday. He is such a wonderful and easy baby...I just love going into his room each morning and smelling that baby smell when I pick him up!

Here is what is going on with him--he has his 9 month check up on Thursday, so I'll find out his measurements then.

  • Jack is pretty much sleeping through the night (9 out of 10 nights or more). He goes to bed around 8pm and wakes up between 6-7am. He goes back down for a morning nap about an hour after he wakes up for another hour or two. Then naps again around 1pm until 3pm or so. From 3-8pm is a long stretch for him, but it's nice to have both kids napping at the same time, so we'll work with it.

  • When he wakes up he just rolls around and plays in his crib. I am so fortunate to have kids that do that rather than waking up and crying immediately. He's learned to kick the sides of his crib and it makes a lot of noise.

  • He can hold his own bottle really well and it's so nice to just give it to him and not have to sit and hold it for him :)

  • Jack LOVES Hunter. He just smiles and laughs at everything Hunter does and watches his every move.

  • He is a super happy baby still. All he does is smile!

  • Jack still has NO teeth. I can't believe it...I was sure he'd have some by now, but not yet! Hunter had about 4 teeth by this age.

  • He's not really crawling, but gets around. He rolls and scooches everywhere. Monica, our nanny, says he kind of does an army crawl, but I haven't really seen much of it.

  • He makes a lot of noise. He yells, babbles, and says "ba-ba-ba-ba" a lot.

Click the link below to see video...Jack laughing for literally no reason (other than he's looking at me)--haha.

For some reason I can't get videos to upload properly. The upload, but then when I try to play back, I get an error message.

Random pics from the weekend

We had a fun weekend and of course it went by way too fast. I have more pictures to post, but here are some random ones. Jack is also 9 months today--I'll have to take some cute pictures of him tonight and do that post later :)

We went out to the lake on Friday after work and Hunter found Emily's glasses.

We strapped Jack into Hunter's toy car thing and Hunter had fun pushing him around the house (and running him into things)

Jack had lots of fun and is thrilled with any attention Hunter gives him.
You can see Hunter's reward sticker chart taped to the doorwall on the left. As you can see, there are practically no stickers on it. He is a terrible two and rarely gets stickers!
Saturday after bath Hunter decided that he and his "gorillillilla" needed to look out the window together.

As I mentioned, Jack LOVES when Hunter pays attention to him.
I can't wait till they can play together even more.

This tee-shirt says "my way or the highway". It's sad, but true. Another thing that is kind of funny is that I call it the "freeway" and Nick says "highway". Hunter gets SO MAD when Nick says "highway"...they will go back and forth yelling "freeway and highway" at each other until Hunter is crying over it b/c he's so mad at Nick (and I'm yelling b/c Nick thinks it's funny to make him so mad).
Oh, and my cousin Joe and his wife had a baby on Saturday. She had her last baby shower on Friday night and went into labor later that night! They also had their birthing class scheduled for Saturday, but too late, the baby came on Saturday. Hopefully they can get a refund His name is Tyler Joseph and I can't wait to see him. He was about 3 weeks early, but doing just fine. It'll be so fun when all the cousins can play together :) And my friend Suzanne had a baby girl a few days ago. They named her Jillian Grace. We'll get to meet her in a few weeks when they come up from Texas to visit and go to the U of M game with us. I just love hearing about all these babies!

This is funny!!!

We got Hunter a harmonica for Christmas. You have to see what Chopper does when he hears the harmonica...we almost died laughing the first time we saw him do this...he's never done anything like this before.

I could not get the video to load for some reason, but click this link and you can watch it on YouTube.

Have a good weekend!!

Lake with Matt & Jacquelyn

On Sunday we met Matt & Jacquelyn out at the lake. We went for a boat ride and stopped at my Aunt Rhonda's (as usual) to say hello. She volunteered to watch Hunter while we went to Zukey's. Connie had her friend over who has a daughter that Hunter knows, so they got to play together. Most importantly, we got to have a peaceful boat ride with Matt & Jacquelyn (we took Jack with us, but he's easy). That was so nice of her to offer and we really appreciated it---more than she probably knows! Hunter starts getting bored after a while on the boat, so it was more fun for him too to play at Rhonda's beach. The funniest part about our trip to Zukey's was that I saw the cops coming towards us. We didn't have enough time to put the life jacket on Jack, so Nick quickly laid him on the floor of the boat while the police drove by. He was content down there, but I felt like a bad mom...I just was hoping he wouldn't start crying! It gave us a good laugh :) Next summer he'll be wearing his life jacket all the time, but he is just miserable at this
age and he can't go anywhere, so we're letting him slide this summer.

Jacquelyn and I met in high school. We also roomed together freshman and senior year in college...she is a wonderful friend and we have so much fun hanging out together.

Family Reunion 2010

Our family reunion (my mom's side) was on Saturday. It's been out at my parent's lake house for as long as I can remember. It's a lot of fun and great to see so many people that I only get to see once a year! Hunter scared me several times by taking off running down the dock--and Nick made me mad by walking like a snail (drunken snail I might add) after him.

He makes me so proud

Friday the "golfers" in the family get together and then go to my parent's house in Brighton afterwards. Nick golfed and I took Jack up there around dinnertime. Hunter stayed home with our neighbor to play. Gigi loves her great-grandson!

Nick, Hunter, and Paul This is where I put Hunter when he's naughty
Everyone hanging out and visiting

My husband and Uncle Steve--so mature. Giving a baby a beer bottle. The best part that you can't see is the "beverage babe"...it has boobs on it like the picture below...my dad and Nick fight over it every time we're at the lake together.

My sister and her boyfriend Danny

Quinn and Jack...she was so sweet and changed his poopy diaper, gave him a bottle, and he was out. She really liked Jack :)

These random people showed up to play with Hunter....just kidding. Connie (on the right) is my cousin from my dad's side of the family. She stopped over with her friend and her friend's daughter. Hunter knows the little girl, Brooklyn, so they chased each other around and played for a bit.

Picking Blueberries

On Sunday we went to pick blueberries. We picked almost 8 pounds...in about 40 minutes. The were amazing--just falling off into your hands and such good ones! I am still wondering how I picked 5 pounds with Jack in one hand while Nick only picked 3 pounds. Hunter picked a lot, but they went right into his mouth and not one into my bucket. The mosquitoes were HORRIBLE though so we weren't there long and picked them fast. I got tons of bug bites and so did Hunter.

I kept trying to get him to help me fill my bucket, but he just kept eating them

I took this while I was holding Jack...I love his chubby cheeks

Showing me his blueberries...I asked him how
many he ate and he says either "hundreds" or "thousands".

Lake with Sanchez Family....and visit from Aunt Aileen

I wish I could keep up with my blogging and pictures. I see other blogs where they post about that day on the same day. I can't seem to be that organized! These are from a week ago and I have tons of pictures from this past weekend that I'll get to in the next day or so...family reunion, lake with friends on Sunday, etc.

Last Sunday (July 25th) we had some friends out to the lake. Hillary & Frank have a little boy who turned 1 on St. Patty's Day...Jackson. I love the name and might have named our Jack that, but didn't want to copy them :)

Jack with my aunt Rhonda. They live one lake over and we like to stop over and say hi. They have a fun beach with tractors. It's nice to get the kids off the boat to play in the sand and say hi to them. She is going to make a wonderful grandma...only a few more weeks. She is always spoiling Hunter when he comes over--popsicles, cupcakes, cookies, etc. No wonder he's always asking to go there when we're on the boat--haha!

Jackson with his popsicle.

Jackson had fun driving the pontoon boat :)

OK, on to something else totally not related to the above....My great-aunt lives in Wisconsin. She is my grandpa's sister (he passed in 2000). She comes for the Ann Arbor Art Fair and I always try to see her b/c she's so cute and fun to hang out with. She has a great sense of humor!

Gigi, Hunter, Nana, and Hunter's great-great-Aunt Aileen

They came over and we went out to dinner last week with the kids. Nick was working late, so it was nice to have the company. We came back to our house b/c Gigi and Nana had to brag about how Hunter knows all of his states. I am proud of him, but try not to brag. The funniest part is that he had to correct Aileen on one of them...I guess he is better at geography than her...just kidding!

Hunter loved having all these women telling him how smart he is!
